Works by Newsom and Saul are featured in our West gallery’s Paradise exhibition which ends on August 25th. Saul will be preparing an exhibition in Fall of 2008 and Newsom in Spring of 2009.

Artist Jörg Immendorff passes away at age 61

Jörg Immendorff passed away on May 28, 2007 of complications related to ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. The artist, born in Germany in 1945, was most famous for his surreal paintings and sculptures. Despite his illness, Immendorff worked for several years, continuing to produce vibrant and challenging works. He is survived by his wife Oda-Jaune Immendorff and their daughter.

To celebrate the New Year the artist Ivan Morley will sign copies of the catalogue published by Patrick Painter Inc on the occasion of his recent exhibition at the gallery.
The 44-page, fully illustrated catalogue covers the last 5 years of Morley's career and features an essay by gallery curator Noëllie Roussel.
The signing will take place at the East Gallery on January 13, from 2 to 4 PM. The East Gallery is adjacent to Bergamot Café.

The Society of Modern Art at the Ludwig Museum in Cologne, Germany will be honoring Mike Kelley with the Wolfgang Hahn Cologne Prize. Kelley was selected among 37 other candidates and will be presented with the award on October 30, 2006 at 7pm at the Ludwig Museum.

This past June 14 through September 25, 2006, gallery artist Mike Kelley was invited by the Louvre to create a work for the exhibition of “American Artists and the Louvre”. Kelley presented a multimedia video installation on multiple screens that projected two American paintings.

In light of the “Les artistes américains et le Louvre” show, The Louvre museum has invited Mike Kelley to exhibit a new work at the museum. A major figure of America’s contemporary art scene, Mike Kelley is also an accomplished art critic, musician, and performer. The multi-media installation created for the Louvre is composed of film, music and literary texts and is inspired by the arresting imagery of two famed paintings of the American school.
